The project was organized under the European Territorial Cooperation Programme Greece - Italy 2007-2013 "Investing in our Future" and co-funded by the European Union – European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) - and by National Funds Greece and Italy. The main aim of this proposal was to improve the living and traffic conditions in the urban centers of Igoumenitsa, Brindisi, and Gallipoli. In the framework of the project entitled "Sustainable Urban Networks Management using Information and Communication Technologies - URBANETS," the subproject entitled "Development and Operation of the ALIS" were implemented. The purpose of the subproject was to create the Alarm Alert Information System that generates alerts/alarms concerning traffic and the environmental situation in the areas of interest and disseminates alerts/warnings to operators of the three regions. The project has considered the Epirus Region's specific socio-economic and development prospects with a view to the medium to the long-term development of the wider region.
