The main aim of the project was the creation, activation and support of a network of cooperation among public bodies (involved in the design, implementation and monitoring of the migration and integration policies), research/scientific institutions (e.g. universities, research centers/institutes, etc.) and civil-society actors (e.g. NGOs, immigrant associations/organizations, coordinating bodies, etc.) in the Member States of Mediterranean-Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, Cyprus and Malta. The organizations that participated in the proposed network came from the six Member states of the Mediterranean (Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, Cyprus and Malta) and from other Member States of the European Union (e.g. Belgium, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Poland, Czech Republic, etc.)
The main objectives of the action were the following:
- Record of innovative policies of the Member States of the Mediterranean (Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, Cyprus and Malta) among others in the fields of equal treatment, intercultural dialogue, and participation of immigrants in all aspects of collective life, as well as the evaluation of integration policies.
- Evaluation of the forms of cooperation among the institutions involved in the integration of TCN –among others- and in the fields of equal treatment, intercultural dialogue, and participation of immigrants in all aspects of collective life, as well as the evaluation of integration policies, etc.
- Dissemination of best practices of the organizations for the effective management of migration –among others- in the areas of equality, intercultural dialogue, but also for participation of immigrants in all aspects of collective life, evaluation of integration policies etc.
- Implementation of best practice between some or all of the actors involved in one or more of the following areas: equal treatment, intercultural dialogue, and participation of immigrants in all aspects of collective life, evaluation of integration policies, etc.
The project was implemented in the following phases:
Phase 1. Design, construction and operation of electronic interactive communication platform (website) to exchange views and experiences.
Phase 2. Design and Implementation of Best Practice for the integration of third country nationals.
Phase 3. Organization and Implementation of Workshops and a Final Conference to exchange views and experiences.
Phase 4. Design and Construction of a Database on Best Practices in the Member States of the Mediterranean.
Phase 5. Publication of actions that concern the exchange of views and experiences of representative bodies of the Member States of Mediterranean.
Phase 6. Composition of the Final Report.
